Message The ticket should say the means of how he clocked you. It would say Radar (& Band), Laser, Pacing, Vascar...I think that's it. If it says Radar then you might have a case. Was your radar plugged in and functioning? Were you near other cars? What angle did he get you? Well it's going to be pretty much your word against his...so it will be tough. But if you had your detector mounted properly and it was functional, then there is NO WAY he hit you with radar (providing you can fully detect X, Ka, K). Laws of physics dictate this. Also, if you are next to other cars you can use the arguement that he didn't hit you and hit another car.

If he hit you with radar dead on...ie vertical to you...then he got a good read. If he got you at an angle, he clocked you slower than what you were going. If he clocked you horizontal (ie perpendicular) to you, then you have a chance. Radar does not work at a 90 degree angle. It will give him bad results.

You can also check to see when was the last time the gun was calibrated. I would also get your speedometer checked. See if it's off. If it's off then you can use that excuse as well. 36mph over is a lot...so it depends. I've heard of people going 20mph over and their speedometer was also off in the wrong way (ie speedometer showed 75, but they were going 70) and they still got off. I don't know how that worked.

I think you should contact a lawyer. See what he/she says. They often give good advice. I had 1 ticket. I was going 81 in a 55. My speedometer was off. I didn't know it until AFTER my court date. But I found out that if I plead guilty and take bad driver's school (Defensive Driving or soemthing) that they would drop the ticket. I spend like $75 on the class. It was cheaper than the ticket and it was dropped.
